Black History Month

The month of February is also known as Black History Month. In honor of this, I did some research and found out some information about Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a Nigerian woman who made a huge impact on Nigeria's history. She was a a teacher, political campaigner, women’s rights activist, and the founder of the Nigerian Women’s Union. Also, in the 1950s, she was one of the few women elected to the House of Chiefs. Furthermore, she was one of the first Nigerian woman to drive a car and ride a motorcycle which at that time was like a taboo for women. Mrs. Ransome-Kuti was a pioneer and serves as a leading example for Nigerian woman everywhere.
