Explosion of Flavors & Spices Unite
This week I discovered that in the corner of W 7th St. by Park Ave. lays a little grocery market next to the one I used to go quite often when I was little. This tiny shop holds many Nigerian and African goods/foods and it is owned by Mrs. Alegun. In more detail some of the products I saw as I walked around the store that I never heard of included Fufu (plaintain starch), and various types of dried fishes. To my surprise I did not only find natural products from Nigeria but I also found spices and foods that can be found inside my own kitchen cabinet. Maggi, Goya, Adobo, and Plaintain chips are all things that I am accostumed to and yet even though we are from opposite sides of the world these products are found in both places.
