Gurdwara - My Temple
The most interesting thing to show my friends was my temple. The temple that I go to is in Bridgewater and I've been going there since I was born. The first thing we did as soon as we walked in was take off our shoes. We are not allowed to wear our shoes in such a sacred place, so out of respect we have to take off our shoes. After taking off our shoes, we must wash our hands to make sure we are clean before we enter the prayer hall. Once upstairs in the prayer hall, we walked towards my holy book that is beautifully covered with colorful cloth. When we were near the book, we knelt down and folded our hands to get our blessings. We bowed down and placed a dollar in a big brown box. At the end of the prayer, we had prasad which is a sweet dish made with brown sugar. The prasad acts as a blessing from God because it is made during the prayer. My friends followed this whole process and got to experience what it would be like to be Sikh.
